It’s easy to assume everyone knows what bullying is. But often the term bullying is used to describe other aggressive behaviour. This can make it hard for schools, parents and whānau, and the wider community to consistently identify and deal with bullying when it happens. Most widely-accepted definitions of bullying are based on four elements: bullying is deliberate, harmful, involves a power imbalance, and has an element of repetition.
At Taupo-nui-a-Tia College we are committed to a whole-school approach to ensure a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for all staff and students. No student or staff member should ever have to experience bullying.
We have developed a process students, whānau, and the wider community can follow if they ever feel like they are experiencing bullying - either face-to-face or online. We wanted to provide our school community with a mechanism of support which gives guidance about what students and whānau can do if they feel they are experiencing bullying. We encourage the use of the process outlined below for face-to-face bullying, online bullying, and how students can support a friend.
At the bottom of this page is an option for students and/or whānau to complete an online bullying reporting form. The completed form will be received by a member of our pastoral team who will triage the situation and decide who it needs to be referred onto. We have also included information about bullying via the two buttons directly below.
