To qualify for a school bus, a student must meet three main criteria:
- they must be in-zone for the school
- they must live a certain distance from the school (4.8 km for Years 9-13), and
- there must be no suitable public transport available
Students who qualify are entitled to catch the bus for free as long as they adhere to the safety and behavioural regulations.
Every student who catches a bus must sign and have their caregiver sign the - Rules for students travelling on buses form.
Students are then given a bus tag to scan on and off the bus.
This information is recorded for emergency action and as a roll for who is travelling on the bus each day.
Out of Zone Students
Out of zone students can catch a bus but they must pay for this service. The cost of this is $200 a year for the first students and $100 for each additional family member.
Students in the zone but not at a distance of 4.8km from the school are not entitled to catch the bus. This includes the Nukuhau shops.
Turangi Students
There is no school bus from Turangi to Taupō . These students must use the private bus company from Turangi.
Transport Conveyance Allowance
Students at our school are not entitled to this allowance as we do not meet the criteria.
