- Regularly monitor your total NCEA credits
- Go to Course Outlines/NCEA Assessment outlines for level 1, 2 or 3.

What is NCEA and How Does it Work in 2027?
You will have achieved an NCEA level when you meet the following requirements:
NCEA Level 1: 60 credits required at level 1 or above and 10 credits in literacy and 10 credits in numeracy
Literacy requirements are met by either; achieving in both the reading and writing common assessment activities or achieving 10 credits in specifically tagged literacy achievement standards
Numeracy requirements are met by either; achieving in the numeracy common assessment activity or achieving 10 credits in specifically tagged numeracy achievement standards
Note: Any credits used to meet numeracy or literacy requirements do not count in the 60 required to gain level 1 NCEA.
NCEA Level 2: 60 credits required at level 2 or above
NCEA level 2 will only be awarded if the minimum literacy and numeracy requirements have been met as above.
NCEA Level 3: 60 credits required at level 3 or above
NCEA level 3 will only be awarded if the minimum literacy and numeracy requirements have been met as above or was awarded prior to 2024.
