TNT 1st XV 78 Forest View High School 5

It has been a great start to the pre-season for the 1st XV Boys. This past weekend they secured an impressive 78-5 victory over a spirited Forest View High School team.

It's a new look for the 2021 season with some good young talent being promoted up into the 1st XV. The boys started strong dominating the first half with structured forward play and slick backline moves. With the breeze behind and a spirited defensive display, they pulled out a commanding lead with year 11 debutants, Thomas Swailes scoring two tries, and Jack Dallas one.  It was great to see the team spirit and the older, more experienced players helping the younger boys move seamlessly into the top level.

A near-perfect kicking display from Liam Prisk helped TNT take control and, with some rampaging forward work and line breaks from Kees Terata, Shaun Dobbyn, and Chase Williams, the score built nicely.

The second half saw Forest View come back into the game a little but some impressive defence and a strong forward performance saw TNT regain control and pull away to a comfortable victory.  There were some great individual performances but, more importantly, signs of a great team spirit developing. With a good mix of size and speed, the early signs are promising for the 2021 season as the team continues their preparation for the McQuilken Cup defence on Thursday 8th April at Taupo Nui-A-Tia College.
