BOPSS Regional MTB Championships 15th-16th May Summerhill, Papamoa
On Friday 15th May a team of three XCO MTB riders travelled to Summerhill Mountain Bike Park in Papamoa for the BOP SS Regional XCO races.
George Neman and Joshua Bradcock raced in the U15 boys category. After suffering some minor injuries George powered through to a first place finish with a 2 minute 37 second lead. Joshua had a mechanical in the early stages of his first lap but he got it sorted and powered through the field finishing a solid 7th.
Ginny Gibson raced in the U16 girls category. After a strong consistent race she placed second.
George, Joshua and Ginny also raced in the U16 relay category. Ex Nui student Coen Nicol arrived at the park for a ride but was instead put to work and led the first lap of the relay, thank you Coen. Another awesome result for our relay team placing second.
Saturday 16th May we had a team of six enduro riders travel to the park for Enduro race day.
Harrison Fletcher competed in the U20, Ashton Farmer and Marley Whittaker in the U17, Finn Dunbar in the U16 and Liam Dunbar and Keegan Watson in the U15.
A few crashes were had on the enduro course but all riders completed their respective races with excellent finishes with Harrison taking out third in the U20’s.
Another great event put on by DirtCraft in the Sunny Bay and another great set of results for our students.
