Last Wednesday we sent two teams to the Central Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools Junior Badminton qualifier.
Teams of four, split into two doubles pairings and each competitor plays a singles match. The teams played three other schools in the round robin.
We are waiting to hear the finalised results and if they have qualified for the BOPSS final in August. Fingers crossed for them.
There was some outstanding play. Our teams were a mixture of experienced players and those at their first ever competitive badminton event. Everyone had success and certainly seemed very happy on the return van ride home.
Shout out to Leon who won all his singles matches
And to Vishva and Diya who were ferocious in their doubles matches, Diya even taking a shuttle to the eye.
Congratulations to our junior badminton players.
Jayden Arderne, Leon Hill, Het Mistry, Diya Patel, Vishva Patel, Logan Sowerby, Kate Spriggs and Peter Rushton.
Thank you also to Ryleigh Shepherd and Nicole Wang, our senior badminton players who travelled to help manage the teams. Your support was invaluable.
