Archery - Inaugral Schools Competition

Archery - Inaugral Schools Competition

At the beginning of May two of our students competed at the inaugral Bay of Plenty Schools Archery Tournament.   It was hosted by Tauranga Archers

It was a busy day of shooting from 9am through to 4pm.
Three events happened on the day.
1 - First up was determining each archer's ranking.  This involved 12 ends of 6 arrows (72 arrows shot at target) to determine ranking.
2 - Team match play: This was teams of two made at random. Each member shoots 3 arrows, and for 3 ends (rounds) they versed another team.  The team with the winning score progressed to the next round, the other team was then out.  This progressed to the last four teams which then played for 1st/ 2nd or 3rd/ 4th.
3 - Match play: This is the same as teams, but playing as individuals.  If you win a round you progress, if you lose you are knocked out of play.

Our two students, Chelsy Harris and Simon Bowden-Rogers had outstanding results as follows:

Ranking for recurve (bow style)
Girls- Chelsy 3rd
Boys- Simon 2nd

Team match play
1st Chelsy & Zaria (from Tauranga girls)

Individual match play
Girls- Chelsy 2nd
Boys- Simon 3rd

Both Simon and Chelsy shot really well.  Their parents and the local Taupo Club we were super proud, not only of their skill but also of their sportsmanship.

Taupo-nui-a-Tia College is super proud of you too!
