The last weekend of March four students (Bianca Stewart, George Newman, Pablo Stewart and Joshua Bradcock) journeyed to Wellington to race in the North Island Schools MTB cross country championship.
Friday practice conditions were treacherous and muddy after recent rainfall. However the weather cleared up and track conditions improved for Sunday racing.
George, Pablo and Joshua all raced in the U15 boys XC. George raced strong securing 2nd place. Out of a field of 23 Pablo came 8th and Joshua narrowly missed out on a top 10 placing coming 11th.
Bianca raced in the U20 girls XC and after a strong steady race placed 2nd.
The weather became wet in the afternoon ahead of the relays but the boys stuck it out and secured 3rd.
A great weekend away for our mountain bikers who wrapped up our Summer Tournament Week in style with outstanding results.
