Toby Elmiger 3rd overall in inaugral TA2 season

During the recent Supercars weekend at the Taupo Motorsport Park, one of our students, Toby Elmiger was competing in the TA2 Championships.   This was the last weekend of the season and the overall standings were so close that it came down to the final race as the decider of podium positions.

It was Toby's rookie season but a successful one to say the least, he walked away with THIRD OVERALL in the championship.  Achieving 10 race podiums, 2 race wins, 5 out of 6 round podiums, a track lap record down south and some huge achievements along the way, including being the youngest TA2 race winner in history and also having the biggest winning margin in TA2 history of 36 seconds.

Toby said, "We had some hard-fought fights along the way, and it was great learning not just for me but for the team as well, seeing constant improvement across each round of the season, which should be an indicator for the trajectory we have coming into next season!   I also got to work with, and race against some cool people.  Racing Will Davidson down in Highlands, and working with the Shell V-Power Racing boys, Brodie Kostecki and Ryan Gray, before the last round here in Taupo.  I'm planning on keeping these connections close and staying in contact because it could open some very cool doors in the future."

What an exciting time for a young talent from right here in Taupo.  Congratulations Toby and all the best for some downtime before next season.
