During the school holidays, Niah Findley had the opportunity to be a marine biologist for a day. She headed to the University of Waikato in Tauranga, where she participated in hands-on labs and mini lectures, gaining insight into aquaculture and marine studies. The day focused on the effects of climate change on the ocean's acidity levels, with a close look at the impacts on molluscs and sponges. On top of the learning, Niah enjoyed connecting with other students from high schools across the North Island and getting a taste of uni life. It was a valuable experience and reinforced Niah's interest in pursuing a career in marine science.
