Wow what a wonderful three tournament weekends for our four junior volleyball teams.
For many of these students this was the first time they have been away for a sporting tournament. The way volleyball is delivered as a tournament structure as opposed to a weekly competition means this is our only option in Taupo. It's a huge step up for many.
We are so proud of all four teams, for their commitment to training, their attitudes and team work and for showing great spirit during the weekends.
Thanks also to our awesome Coaches - Bruce, James, Phil, Darren, Lizzy, Wiremu and William. Managers - Jess, Sarah, Monique, Lucy and all the other parents, there are too many to name, that helped driving, making food, and generally supporting and making it all possible. It takes a village!
Special mention must go to our Boys A team who managed a massive feat to break into the top 8. We believe this is better than, or equal to, any junior boys team the College has produced in the past. In order to do this, they basically had to win every game they played over the first 5 days of the tournament in order to earn the right to a promotion/relegation match which they won in 2 sets. This team has a bright future and we can't wait to see them grow and build as individuals and team mates.
And to our other three teams, some amazing wins and tight losses, the growth was outstanding and the fun and friendships and memories for a lifetime.
To both A teams, we hope you have had an amazing time at the North Island Junior Volleyball Championships this week. Updates to come...
