It was a school holidays of exceptional results for our cyclists all competing at various events in the North and South Islands.
The NZSS Road Cycling Championships were held in the Manawatu. We sent a strong contingent of riders: Oli Barnett, Alex Milne, Teo Sarnovsky and Yahav Wiezel all competing in both the Road Race and Points Race.
Alex Milne took the WIN and is the NZSS title holder for the U20 women in the road race.
An exceptional result competing against riders from high performance programmes around the country in a strong field of 24.
Alex also narrowly missed the podium in the points race, finishing 4th from 21. Another outstanding effort!
Teo and Oli achieved 15th and 17th in the U20 boys road race in a field of 56. Oli was13th in the points race.
Yahav finished 22nd in the U16 boys road race and 10th in the points race from 34.
The NZSS Mountain Bike Championships were held in Nelson and we had three talented riders make the trip across the Strait.
Bianca Stewart - Cross Country U17 girls 2nd place!
George Newman - Cross Country U14 boys achieved 3rd place!
Harrison Fletcher - In huge fields, Harrison excelled achieving a Downhill result of 8th from 50 and in the Enduro, 11th from a massive 85 riders.
Congratulations to all of you. These are outstanding results to be proud of.
Thank you also to the parents and adults who transported, supervised, were probably bike mechanics and Team Managers. We appreciate you!
