TNT Titans vs. CTRL ALT Tauhara: eSports Sim Racing at The Cave

Monday, the 15th of September, marked a historic moment for the Taupō region as it hosted its first inter-school eSports competition at The Cave. Ten of the best sim racing drivers from each school battled for glory, piloting supercars around the legendary Bathurst track and F1 cars around Le Mans.

The competition demanded both speed and strategy, with teams needing to plan their pit stops, tire changes, and fuel consumption to perfection. A point system based on race placings determined the overall winner.

I want to commend the TNT Titans for their outstanding sportsmanship. The team displayed remarkable Manaakitanga—a deep sense of hospitality and respect—towards their rivals and made our school incredibly proud. They exemplified integrity and character throughout the event, showing that true success is about more than just winning.

The best drivers of the day were celebrated at the Winners' Ceremony:

  • First Place: Oscar Strik (13Ng2) & William Coleman (13Ta1)

  • Second Place: Dominic Caira (13Ng2) & Duncan Williams (12Ta2)

  • Third Place: Michael and Jamie (Tauhara College).

The overall winner, based on points, was Tauhara College. Congratulations to them and their accompanying DT teacher, Jess Sargison.

Our sincerest thanks go to Raiden and Grace at The Cave for hosting such a fantastic event.
