Students excel at karting nationals
During the school holidays, James Joyner, Isaac Morgan, and Lachlan Tombleson proudly represented Taupo-nui-a-Tia College at the National Schools Karting Championship held in Te Puke. The event brought together some of New Zealand’s most dedicated young drivers—many of whom spend nearly every weekend at the track—competing fiercely for points, titles, and a chance to follow in the footsteps of Kiwi motorsport greats like Liam Lawson (Formula 1), Shane van Gisbergen (V8 Supercars), and Scott Dixon (IndyCar).
It was an honour for the boys to represent their school, and they did so with pride.
Isaac placed 9th in Rotax Juniors,
James 16th in Rotax Seniors,
Lachlan placed 4th in Rotax Juniors and 1st place in DVS, making Taupo-nui-a-Tia College the National Schools Champion in the DVS Junior class.
We also wish Lachlan the best of luck as he heads across the Tasman next week to compete in another round of the Australian Karting National series.
Later this year, in October, he’ll also be defending his current North Island title at his home track.
This is the first time we have sent students to compete at this event. Congratulations to all three of you!
