Inaugural Mini Volley Tournament

Inaugural Mini Volley Tournament

FINALS NIGHT was last night for our inaugural mini volley tournament.

This year we continued the vision to get more students playing volleyball.  With mini volley the idea is the players get more touches on the ball which means they are more interested, get much better quickly and have heaps of fun.

Mini Volley is run on badminton sized courts and you have a maximum of 4 per team.  The nets are able to be set at the right height for the student's age and gender.  We were also able to get the seniors involved as we had 4 courts set up and running at all times.

Wednesday nights were full of students for 3 hours playing, scoring, making line calls and practicing.  It was a great atmosphere and we had approximately 80 students competing.

The winners of the Junior boys and girls tournaments are as follows:

Junior Girls
Winners - Nui Green
Runners Up - Nui Blue

Junior Boys
Winners - Panthers
Runners Up - Lions

Term 3 will bring junior trials and team selections for a competitive tournament held on Friday nights at the Event Centre.  We hope to still see everyone on Wednesday's for skills sessions and team trainings.  Please get involved :)

Any questions, see the Sports Office.

Trials for the next 3 Wednesdays, yes in the school holidays if you are around and the first week back at school in Term 3.
Girls 3.30-4.30pm
Boys 4.30-6.00pm

Thanks again to all our amazing volunteers helping to make this work, Phil, Darren and James and there were probably even more that we weren't aware of.

And to the amazing Bruce Mason for this tournaments inception, weekly draws, set ups, coaching and general enthusiasm.  THANK YOU everyone!
