On Wednesday 12th March we had 4 students who took there mountain bikes to the Waikato/ BOP Champs to Te Miro Mountain Bike Park.
U15 boys: George Newman 4th - after a cracking start to take an early lead; and Finn Dunbar 15th in a big fast field.
U17 girls: Bianca Stewart 2nd - contesting at the front for the whole race, but just losing touch with the eventual winner near the end.
U17 boys: Jack Lawrence 37th - a good effort in a long race in another big field.
Relays were run as a combined race with a chaotic start. The boys were in a TNT team, and Bianca teamed up with some Te Miro locals (their team won the senior girls category).
Online relay results seem to have gone a bit haywire for the boys team, but they finished well and seemed to be having fun.
This event gets bigger and bigger each year with more than 300 racing across all races, and a strong contingent in younger age groups bodes well for future racing.
