Last weekend the Taupo-nui-a-Tia rowing team competed at the Junior Rowing Championships held at Lake Karapiro.
The huge result of the weekend was when Zach Bidwell and Nico Febery took out the U16 Double Sculls event. We believe this is the first time a Taupo-Nui-a-Tia boys crew has won at a key regatta in more than 20 years.
These two boys also made the A-final of the Boys U16 Coxed Quad, along with Cooper Prater in bow seat and Natan Berger as coxswain. They finished fourth in a heavily fought Quad contest. Zach also made the A-Final in his U16 Single event, and Nico reached the B-Final in the same Single event. Huge effort and results for these young men.
There were plenty of other great results from our students, notably Adah Williams - 6th A final U17 single scull and 7th in the A final for the double sculls
There were also lots of B finals out there, a C final and so many new faces giving it their all. Our novices rowers shone and it's exciting to see our Taupo rowers working hard and gaining the results amongst tough competition.
Congratulations again to Nico and Zach and all the rowers that competed.
