2025 Oceania Bmx Championships

2025 Oceania Bmx Championships

The 2025 Oceania Bmx Championships were recently held on Sunday 2nd February and Year 11 student Cohen Ludlam attended with thirteen other Taupo based riders to line up against the best competitors from Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti in their respective age class.

The Oceania Champs alternate each year between Australia & New Zealand and this year was hosted by the New Plymouth Bmx Club which put on a fantastic weekend for the international and local racers.

Cohen racing in the UCI 15 year Challenge class enjoyed the fast but technical New Plymouth track which tests the skills of all ages, including the elite class riders.

Qualifying in the top eight guaranteed a place in the winner takes all final and Cohen raced some solid motos ending up as the fourth qualifier for the big show.

In the final and putting the nerves aside, Cohen came out fast off the start hill placing him near the front of the group of chasing racers. He focused on making a clean lap with no mistakes finishing with an outstanding podium finish of 3rd place.

A huge result for Cohen who has to quickly shift his focus for the upcoming National Championships next month being held down in Southland at the Invercargill Bmx Club.  Congratulations Cohen and good luck for the upcoming National Champs!
